Genetic Research Uncovers MTHFR Mutation & Antidote
Genetic research has uncovered some amazing new facts that could make a big difference for your health and quality of life like it did for me. For years, I suffered from a myriad of health issues that doctors could never diagnose (check out my story for more details). Through the Human Genome Project’s discovery of MTHFR, I not only found a treatment, but also found a scientific explanation for my poor health. Studies have predicted that over 70% of the world’s population have this known genetic defect called MTHFR (or Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase – try to say that 5 times fast, it’s not easy).
This MTHFR gene mutation affects, “how our bodies process B vitamins for absorption and use”; this biological process is called methylation. Methylation is simply the transformation of food into enzymes or ‘active elements’ the body’s cells can directly and immediately use.
What is the role of MTHFR in our body?
A healthy MTHFR gene is responsible for converting folic acid into Methylfolate (the ‘active element’ form of Folate that your body uses). Did you know that your cells could not actually use folic acid ? Folic acid must get converted into Methylfolate before the body’s cells can use it. This conversion of folic acid to Methylfolate is a 4-step process, but if someone has, an MTHFR genetic defect, then the enzyme transformation between steps 3 and 4 is mutated, which causes many systemic problems.
- Clearing the body of toxins (making glutathione to do this job),
- Regulating central nervous system health (making serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine to do this work),
- Regulating cardiovascular health (reducing homocysteine levels which are so damaging to the heart)
Types of MTHFR gene mutation and related health problems
There are two well-known MTHFR gene mutations and they can cause many health problems:
Mutation 677 –
Heart disease, heart attack, Stroke, Blood clots, Peripheral neuropathy, Anemia, Miscarriages, Congenital birth defects, and more
Mutation 1298 –
Depression, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Migraines, IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), Memory loss with Alzheimer’s and Dementia, even other psychiatric problems can be tied to this defect (OCD, Bipolar, Schizophrenia), and more
Even symptoms of toxin build up may be linked to one or both of the MTHFR defects – nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, liver and kidney dysfunction, hypertension, tachycardia, pulmonary fibrosis, asthma, immune problems, hair loss, rashes, and much more
Additionally, 98% of Autistic children are believed to have one or both of the MTHFR gene mutations.
If you want to hear a much more detailed explanation of this genetic mutation and its effects from a very reputable doctor, listen to Dr. Neil Rawlins’s video lecture. He was inspired to study the biological pathways in depth to find an answer because his son was dying. Dr. Rawlins was looking for a cure and did indeed find one not only for his son, but also for his entire family with Methylfolate, as I did.
What does all this really mean?
Don’t take a vitamin supplement that your body can’t convert properly, it is NOT a good idea. B-9 as folic acid and B-12 as cyanocobalamin are NOT good options for an MTHFR gene mutant. Instead, you can bypass mutated B vitamin pathways and take the already transformed version of the vitamin enzymes (Methylfolate for B-9 and Methylcobalamin for B-12). These are harder to find, but definitely available to you (over the counter and even via prescription, if you like).
A week after I started taking high doses of Methylfolate and Methylcobalamin, so many of my symptoms just went away and my health has greatly improved. I am incredibly grateful to have my quality of life back again, so thankfully I decided to share it, in a hope of helping others to get their quality of life back. I have created Methyl-Life because I needed an affordable, over-the-counter, high dose of both the Methylfolate and Methylcobalamin delivered in the most absorbable form available (sublingual – absorption by mouth). Now I’m making it available for others to purchase as well.
There are approved FDA versions of Methylfolate available by prescription and others available over-the-counter as well, do your research and find the version(s) that’s right for you. Methyl-Life is not just about a product, it is about helping you get the MTHFR information you need to have a better quality of life. All the best to you on your health journey!
